  • This journey is the perfect choice if you are looking for stunning scenery, want to learn about the local culture by visiting monasteries, meet local guides and teahouse owners, and want to admire Buddhist stupas and mani stones along the way.
  • This trip is appropriate for you if you have already completed the Annapurna Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Circuit Trek and wish to try a more difficult trek.
  • Although completing the Everest Base Camp trip in 14 days is not an easy undertaking, most people who are accustomed to trekking while carrying some weight can achieve it and enjoy the challenge if they begin their preparations well before the event's start date.
  • This trip is appropriate for you to obtain a close view of Mount Everest if you don't mind walking for 5 to 6 hours every day for 14 days while carrying a daypack.

How to Get Prepared for the 14-Day Everest Base Camp Trek?

Considering that you will have to climb up and down on an unsteady route for 14 days while carrying a bag that weighs at least 6 kg and spending, on average, 5 to 6 hours a day on foot. It will be necessary for you to begin increasing your strength and endurance a few months early. Make a schedule for your workout that includes walking up and down hills while wearing a backpack that is packed with 6 to 12 kg at least once every week.

Your legs and muscles will be better prepared for the hike with more hill training. It is crucial because your lungs cannot provide your muscles with enough oxygen at higher altitudes where there is less oxygen. Start working out, start weightlifting, and walk with your hefty rucksack to be fit if you want to successfully reach Base Camp and avoid upsetting fellow trekkers. Even professional climbers prepare themselves for a task like this beforehand.

At the same time, keep in mind that preparing for the 14-day trek to Everest Base Camp includes a significant amount of mental preparation. It is a tough path with a high degree of difficulty that lasts many days, even if the rank of the adventure cannot be compared to climbing Everest. Be ready for everyday occurrences, constantly changing weather, and the high likelihood of altitude sickness.  Read More: How to Train for Everest Base Camp Trek

Because of the higher altitude, today is your second acclimatization day as per the EBC trek itinerary of 14 days. You will be rewarded with a spectacular view, but you will need to get some rest in order to complete the final leg of your adventure. On this day, you might choose to visit Dingboche and the surrounding villages of Chhukung and Imja or take a rest for the next hike. Short hikes can be done in a variety of ways. Nagarjun Hill (2,128m), and Chhukung Ri (5,546m) are all possible hikes. The top of Nagarjun Hill provides views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lobuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.

Many memorials with praying flags and stones in remembrance of climbers who died on the way to Mt. Everest may also be found. You will then arrive at the path that connects Gokyo Lakes and Cho-La Pass. Peaks like Khumbuste (6,636m), Lingtren (6,749m), and Pumori (7,161m) may also be seen. In a usual hike towards Lobuche, you might easily become fatigued walking across the mountainous terrain. Only a few residences exist in Lobuche.

You will take in a close-up look at Everest and the spectacular dawn before returning to Gorakshep for breakfast. Useful Info

14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Best Time

The Everest Base Camp Trek has a history of successful treks in all seasons. The two seasons with the highest visitation rates are spring and autumn. Winter and summer, however, are also popular tourist seasons, just at certain times.

  • Spring

The optimum months for a 14-day trek to Everest Base Camp are in the spring. This season's months are March, April, and May. The favorable weather conditions during these months make high-altitude hikes fascinating. Under the clear sky, the pathways' vibrant rhododendrons and appealing Himalayan views are a plus. Seasonal changes generate fresh growth in the landscape, including flowering woodland trails and gushing river banks.

  • Autumn

Autumn is the best time to go on the 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek because of the beautiful skies, comfortable temperatures, and little likelihood of snowfall. September, October, and November make up the fall season. The temperature is cooler than in April because winter air is gradually moving into the Himalayas. The paths are quite congested with trekkers from all over the world because it is the post-monsoon season.

Food or Meal during 14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek

Three meals will be provided each day on your 14-day Everest Base Camp Package Trek (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). You will need adequate carbohydrates and proteins if you plan to hike at a high altitude close to the tallest peak in the world. Both tea houses and lodges include dining options. You shouldn't anticipate discovering a wide selection of Western food up on the Everest Base Camp Trek because it is in a mountainous environment. On this excursion, though, you will undoubtedly eat real Nepali food.

Additionally, since meat meals are not fresh and clean, it would be better if you avoided eating them during the voyage. Because it is illegal to butcher animals in the Khumbu area, any meat that is accessible there must be transported via yak or porter from Kathmandu or Kharikhola. However, the vegetarian meals provided at the homestays are delectable and packed with nutrition. You get enough energy from them to finish a day's worth of hiking. You are given a new breakfast and lunch menu every day.

French fries, boiled eggs, toast, momo, pancakes, omelets, spaghetti, noodles, and more dishes are available for you to consume. Try the traditional Nepali fare as well, which includes lentils, rice, vegetable curry, pickles, and other side dishes. Similar to other beverages, these routes provide hot chocolate, hot lemon, coffee, tea, and cold drinks.

Accommodation Facilities on 14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Route

All of your accommodations on the EBC Trek route are likely to be teahouses. Teahouse lodging in Nepal is modest, clean, and pleasant specifically designed to accommodate visitors. The majority of rooms are basic. They have low-rise mattresses with foam mattress pads, wood-paneled or plastered walls, and, for the most part, only one window. Some teahouses feature in-room heaters, while others have a central burner that is lit in the evenings. Some hotels provide hot showers, while the majority only provide cold ones. Most places have electrical charging, nevertheless, it may be at a charge.

14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek Difficulty

The path may be quite simple for somebody who has experienced years of long hikes carrying a hefty rucksack. On the other side, those without access to hills or who aren't accustomed to everyday exercise like hiking will need to put in a lot of effort to be ready for this trip, which will undoubtedly be difficult. You should also be mindful of the effects of changing climates and altitude sickness. Everything is unpredictable since the hike leads you over the 5000-meter barrier. It will be difficult for newbies to climb and descend every day. You don't need prior mountaineering knowledge because the hike consists of physical walks without any technical aspects. But to finish the 14-day trek in the Himalayas, you must be enthusiastic and committed.

Requirement of Travel Insurance for 14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek

Although Nepal is a reasonably safe destination to visit for both men and women, you can never be certain that your health or property will be safe. Having your belongings insured will alleviate any fears you may have about their security. Getting insured and forgetting about your worries may often lead to a pleasant trip.

Extreme weather changes, as well as a variety of risks like altitude sickness, accidents, and plane cancellations, are all part of the Everest Base Camp expedition. Stumbling, pulling a muscle, or getting altitude sickness may all be dangerous. Even for the most basic of illnesses, finding someone to cure your condition at such a high altitude may demand paying insane amounts of money. If you need to be rescued from a helicopter, your flight expenses may be raised or even treble.

Other forms of incidents, such as petty theft, luggage damage, and airline cancellations, are also a possibility. So, we highly recommend that you get EBC Trek travel insurance since there is so much stuff that may go wrong on a lousy day. Recommended Travel Insurance

Trekkers will begin their adventure at 1300 meters (Kathmandu) and travel to Lukla straight (2800 m). They will have to adapt their bodies about 3400 m after Lukla, which would take roughly two days. As a result, hikers are at significant risk of developing altitude sickness. Altitude sickness, often known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), is an illness that occurs when people are not adequately acclimatized to a high altitude. To minimize altitude sickness on the 14 days of Everest Base Camp Trek, follow this advice from our expert trekking guides and trip planners.

  • Trekkers can get their bodies acclimated by hiking and ascending steadily. They may become exhausted as a result of too much rushed walking, and this might be a key cause of developing altitude sickness.
  • You should hike as high as possible for your acclimatization rest and then return to a lower elevation for nighttime sleep. Proper Acclimatization rest not only helps to prevent altitude sickness but also aids the body in recovering exhausted muscles and adjusting to the shifting oxygen levels.
  • During the hike, it is strongly encouraged that you do not consume alcohol or smoke. Alcohol, cigarettes, and tobacco use deplete the body's water reserves. It also slows down and makes you feel tired. It eventually leads to altitude sickness.
  • Drink lots of warm water to avoid altitude sickness in high areas. Every half-hour of walking, you should drink 500 ml of water.
  • During high-altitude trekking, many individuals lose their appetite and eat very little. It's quite risky. Increase your intake of liquid foods and avoid emptying your stomach. It's easier to avoid altitude sickness if you eat well.
  • A psychological factor may have contributed to your illness. As a result, be ready and optimistic. Instead of dwelling on your bad thoughts, take in the beautiful environment. Maintain a pleasant attitude by conversing with your fellow trekkers or guide.

14 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking Distance and Elevation

The full trip from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back, including acclimatization hikes in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, as well as the hike up and down Kala Patthar, is 81 miles/130 kilometers,  don't be concerned about the distance; you will do it in 14 days. On average, the daily hike will be 12 kilometers and approximately 6 to 7 hours. Lukla, at 2800 meters, is the lowest place from which you may begin hiking, while Kala Patthar, at 5645 meters, is the highest point from where you can obtain a clear glimpse of Mount Everest's summit. You will be able to feel the impacts of the rise in your body as you ascend. As you hike toward Everest Base Camp, you will gain about 400 to 800 meters in elevation each day. Everest Base Camp Trek Map and Altitude Chart

Amazing Experience Traveling To Everest Base Camp

It was an amazing experience traveling to Everest Base Camp with Green Valley Nepal. Raj's excellent communication abilities were evident from the moment I got in touch with them, which made the booking process easy and comforting.

Ambar, our guide, embodied the highest standards of care and professionalism. He went above and beyond to make sure we were content and comfortable at every turn in addition to making sure we were safe during the journey. We had the impression that he was more than just a guide because he cared for us like family, always being there to assist and anticipate our needs.

Santos, our porter, is someone I cannot praise enough for his unwavering commitment and willingness to go above and beyond. Santos was always willing to help us even on the difficult terrain; he even happily carried extra weight. His diligence and upbeat demeanor were genuinely admirable.

There was not a single complaint about Green Valley Nepal's services throughout the entire expedition. Everything, including lodging and transportation, was well planned and carried out. Anyone considering trekking in the area should definitely consider Green Valley Nepal. I'm already looking forward to my next excursion with them because their amazing crew, led by Raj, guarantees an experience that will never be forgotten.

  • Yes! Trekking to Everest Base Camp is really worthwhile. Especially in October and November, the sights are breathtaking. Base camp is bustling with climbers during the expedition period of April to May. If you think you can accomplish this hike in the winter, there will be significantly fewer other hikers and climbers, and the vistas will be much clearer. It will, however, be more difficult and chilly!

  • Yes. You can hike to EBC on your own by following other hikers or groups. But we don’t recommend trekking alone. If you don't want to hire a guide and want to take any side roads that cross passes, consider hiring a local porter. It's for your own protection. Also, the safety of those who may be called upon to assist you if you become incapacitated.

  • The altitude is the major 'risk' of trekking to Everest Base Camp. You will spend three days at a height of 5,000 meters. Slowing down and taking the appropriate acclimatization days will significantly lessen the risk. Avalanches are extremely unusual, and there have been no reports of them on this route.

  • There are many possibilities! It will take 12 days to get from Lukla to Lukla if you use the standard and most common route. The number of days required to visit Gokyo Lake or the Three Passes varies between 14 and 16. It will take 18 to 20 days if you trek in from Jiri and fly out from Lukla.

  • The flight cost from Kathmandu to Lukla is USD 226 per person.

  • You will immediately notice the difference in air temperature when you arrive at Lukla. The temperature will have fallen when you reach Dingboche (above Namche Bazaar). The higher you get, the more you'll be able to feel chilly weather. Temperatures can drop below -20 degrees Celsius at night during the winter.

  • The optimum time to go to Everest Base Camp is based on the activities you want to undertake there. Trekking is best done in the spring (March-May) or fall (October-November), whereas a helicopter trip may be done at any time outside of the rainy season. Winter isn't out of the question, though; if you're prepared for the cold, you'll be rewarded with stunning mountain vistas.

  • To trek to Everest Base Camp, you don't need any technical knowledge or climbing abilities. Be advised that this is a hike, not a climb. There are no high passes to traverse, either. However, there is the issue of altitude to consider, and you must properly acclimate. This will be accomplished if you hike with a knowledgeable guide. If you're going solo, keep an eye on your health and take it gently.
